How to do it

  1. Total: add the prices, dollars with dollars and cents with cents.
  2. Change: what you paid minus the price. Count up from the price to make it easy.

Worked example

$3.45 + $2.80
$3.45 + $2 = $5.45, then + 80c = $6.25
